POSITION SUMMARY
*This position is HYBRID with 1-2 days in office per week*
The Regulatory Advocacy and Compliance Specialist is responsible for building relationships with key regulatory agencies (DIFS, NCUA, CFPB etc) monitoring regulatory developments, interpreting their impact on credit unions, and providing clear, practical guidance to internal teams and member institutions. This role supports compliance assistance efforts, contributes to educational programming, and strengthens relationships with regulatory agencies.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Foster and strengthen relationships with regulatory and external agencies focusing on DIFS, NCUA and CFPB.
- Monitor and interpret regulatory changes at the state and federal levels; advising leadership on potential impacts to credit union operations.
- Conduct research and analysis on regulatory trends, enforcement actions, and best practices to support proactive compliance planning.
- Support the development of official comments on proposed regulations from federal and state agencies that directly affect credit unions.
- Provide compliance assistance via the Compliance Helpline and report on trends, common inquiries, and emerging concerns.
- Collaborate with the VP of Engagement & General Counsel, and the Education and Advocacy departments to develop and deliver compliance-related content at educational events and standalone sessions.
- Deliver internal and external presentations on regulatory updates, ensuring complex information is communicated clearly and effectively.
- Foster and strengthen relationships with regulatory bodies and external agencies as needed.
- Collaborate and participate in industry events and calls such as America’s Credit Unions, AACUL and NASCUS.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; capable of translating complex regulatory content into clear, actionable guidance for non-experts.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a regulatory position.
- A strong understanding of regulations.
- Strong computer skills with work experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Credit union or other financial institution background strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of the credit union system, and state and federal credit union regulatory agencies.
- America’s Credit Unions Compliance Certifications (CUCE and BSACS) preferred.
TRAVEL
Position may require periodic travel both in-state and out-of-state as needed to support events and conferences.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
