The Opportunity
We are seeking a Molecular Technologist to perform all aspects of testing in a clinical molecular laboratory. This person will supervise in the development of new technologies and participate in documenting and implementing Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Quality Inventory procedures.
This shift is from Tuesday through Saturday from 12pm–9pm.
Responsibilities:
- Under the general supervision of the Lab Manager, independently performs complex molecular-based procedures and analyzes results with a high degree of quality and in accordance with established laboratory protocol.
- Perform routine quality control, calibration and maintenance in accordance with established laboratory protocol.
- Operate complex equipment and computer programs related to the LIS system.
- Participates in the accessioning and labeling of specimens, specimen storage and disposal, and the maintenance of reagents and equipment.
- Maintain a neat and clean work environment
- Assist in training entry level employees in molecular methodology and testing procedures, under guidance and within protocol parameters.
- Assist in performing validation and revalidation of all TEN Healthcare products.
- Participate in CAP Proficiency testing program.
- Participate in troubleshooting of Quality Controls and instrument failures.
- Provide input and feedback for method development and method changes including the development of standard operating procedures involving methods and instrumentation in the molecular lab.
- Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties delegated by the Laboratory Manager.
Preferred requirement:
• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science with undergraduate course work in molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular genetics, or other course work that covers PCR and recombinant DNA/RNA theory and practice.
• However, commensurate job-related training and experience may be substituted (see below)
Minimum requirement:
• Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology or equivalent (60 semester hours with adequate course break-down AND training or experience).
• Graduated from a medical laboratory school that has been approved (prior to 1995) or have completed a 50 week military training course.
