Description

Job Summary: The Lead Machinist will read blueprints, programming machines, and work with R&D and tooling to produce precision parts. This individual will support the production teams to ensure a continuous flow of product. 


Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and work from complex blueprints, sketches, and CAD drawings to produce precision parts.
  • Program CNC machines to ensure accurate and efficient production. 
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to develop new machining processes and improve existing ones. 
  • Design, select, and maintain tools and fixtures to optimize machining operations. 
  • Operate manual milling machines and lathes to produce high-quality components. 
  • Asist in the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of production machinery to ensure smooth and efficient production runs.
  • Conduct inspections and tests to ensure parts meet specifications and quality standards. 
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on machining equipment to ensure optimal performance. 


Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a machinist, with 3 years in a Level III role or equivalent. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associates degree in machining or a related field preferred. 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong programming skills for CNC machines. 
  • Experience with programming 3 and 5 axis mills and lathes with live tooling.   
  • Experience with DMG More NLX series machines is highly desirable.
  • Experience with manual milling machines and lathes. 
  • Knowledge of tooling design and maintenance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks. 
  • Must have manual dexterity in order to assemble products or machines as directed.
  • Must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Regularly utilizes written and oral communication skills.
  • Requires ability to read and interpret information and documents.
  • Performs detailed work on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to speak and hear clearly, with or without accommodation.
