Position Summary:

The Production Engineer is responsible for delivering high-quality engineering solutions to support manufacturing operations. This role requires 5 to 10 years of relevant experience and a strong foundation in product design, mechanical analysis, and engineering principles. The Production Engineer will be tasked with ensuring timely execution of production engineering projects, serving as a key liaison between manufacturing, purchasing, and sales departments, and leading individual engineering projects as assigned. The position will possess working knowledge of stress analysis and finite element analysis (FEA), along with a fundamental understanding of methodologies used to determine structural stresses. Familiarity with compressible flow analysis, welding design, and welding processes is considered a plus. A strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement is essential.

Essential Duties:

  • Interpret sketches, specifications, and technical descriptions to plan and prepare mechanical drawings.
  • Develop detailed mechanical drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or DraftSight in compliance with ASME Y14.1 standards.
  • Review RFQs, technical drawings, and floor plans to determine project scope and quote requirements.
  • Conduct site visits to assess installation environments, identify constraints, and gather precise measurements.
  • Solicit quotes from vendors and subcontractors; prepare accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and labor cost estimates.
  • Generate complete and detailed customer quotations.
  • Provide supporting documentation including BOMs, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Revise and update drawings to reflect design modifications and resolved issues.
  • Record engineering data and maintain project documentation in appropriate databases.
  • Perform advanced engineering calculations for mechanical structures and fluid flow systems.
  • Support research and development (R&D) initiatives and contribute to special projects as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and compliance with quality standards.

Essential Duties:

  • 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, DraftSight).
  • Working knowledge of stress analysis and FEA.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Knowledge of compressible flow dynamics and welding design is advantageous.

Licenses and Certifications: N/A

Experience: Mechanical Engineering design experience; knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred; knowledge of ERP and bills of materials work is preferred.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to quickly learn the systems utilized by the organization; Experience with Made-2- Manage preferred.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Must be flexible, dependable, and have the ability and willingness to work overtime when needed.
  • Ability to adhere to safety rules and procedures and safety minded.
  • Ability to learn to do welded designs and have a good understanding of weld processes preferred.
  • Must have good Mechanical Engineering calculation skills. Good at compressible flow calculations is preferred.

  • Must pass drug test and physical.

  • Work Environment

The Design Engineer will work primarily in an indoor office environment, and occasionally in a manufacturing facility subject to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, with exposure to occasional temperatures below 32 degrees or above 100 degrees. The noise level in the environment may be moderate to loud. Will also be required to travel occasionally.
