About the Position:
AMH is opening a school health center in Graham County Schools this fall. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join the Appalachian Mountain Health team at a new school-based health center serving Robbinsville Elementary, Middle, and High Schools in Graham County, NC. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide high-quality, accessible care to students and staff in a collaborative, supportive environment. Services include primary care, preventative health, and same-day medical treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive primary care, preventive health services, and acute care for students and staff.
- Conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, manage chronic conditions, and prescribe medications.
- Collaborate with school staff, counselors, and other healthcare professionals to support overall student and staff wellness.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records and documentation in compliance with privacy laws.
- Educate patients and families about health conditions, medications, and wellness strategies.
- Participate in outreach and wellness activities within the school and community.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in North Carolina.
- National certification (e.g., AANP, ANCC, NCCPA).
- BLS certification; DEA
- Experience in family medicine, pediatrics, or school-based healthcare strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Passion for working with youth and in a community health setting.
