LIQUOR CLERK (part-time) - Moser's

The Liquor Clerk is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and proper stocking of the liquor department. This role ensures all alcohol-related products are merchandised according to store standards and in compliance with state and local laws. The Liquor Clerk supports daily store operations by assisting customers with product selection, processing transactions, and maintaining accurate inventory levels.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide excellent customer service to shoppers in the liquor department
- Assist customers in locating and selecting alcoholic beverages
- Offer product recommendations based on customer preferences
- Answer product-related questions in a courteous and knowledgeable manner
- Ensure shelves and displays are fully stocked and properly faced
- Rotate stock to ensure freshness and avoid expired merchandise
- Maintain clean and organized displays to maximize product visibility
- Adhere to state and local regulations concerning the sale of alcohol
- Verify age and identification before completing alcohol purchases
- Refuse sales when necessary to comply with legal standards
- Report any suspicious or non-compliant behavior to store management
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems accurately and efficiently
- Ring up customer purchases and process various payment types
- Handle cash and issue correct change
- Balance register at the end of shifts when required
- Receive, check, and stock incoming shipments of liquor products
- Inspect deliveries for damage and accuracy
- Organize stockroom inventory to support replenishment needs
- Communicate inventory shortages or overages to supervisors
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in the liquor department
- Wipe down counters, shelves, and coolers regularly
- Remove damaged or broken products promptly
- Follow proper procedures for handling spills or breakages
- Collaborate with team members and management to achieve department goals
- Participate in promotional setups and seasonal merchandising
- Attend department meetings or training sessions as scheduled
- Support overall store operations as directed
- Perform all other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

- Must be at least 18 years old to sell alcohol according to state and local laws
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous retail, customer service, or liquor sales experience is a plus
- Basic math and cash-handling skills
- Ability to operate point-of-sale (POS) systems efficiently
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail, especially with inventory and compliance tasks
- Ability to follow laws, company policies, and procedures
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Retail grocery store environment with consistent customer interaction
- Exposure to varying temperatures, including coolers and back stock rooms
- Fast-paced, occasionally noisy environment during peak hours
- Use of cleaning supplies and occasional exposure to broken glass/spills
- May work varied shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays
