Job Summary
The Senior Product Engineer is responsible for providing advanced engineering support to the manufacturing plant and customers, ensuring products are produced and installed in accordance with customer-approved specifications. This role leads the development of engineering standards, training programs, and documentation processes, while also offering technical guidance to both internal teams and field technicians. The position plays a key role in product development, process ownership, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and product quality.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Leadership & Oversight
- Supervise and monitor the performance of Product Engineers.
- Develop and execute training programs for Product Engineers.
- Create and maintain customer-specific “playbooks” for training and consistency.
- Process & Standards Development
- Establish and maintain process standards for product engineering tasks.
- Serve as the process owner for the Product Development Cycle and Installation, Operating, and Maintenance Instructions.
- Technical Support & Documentation
- Provide technical support to manufacturing and field technicians, including troubleshooting and installation guidance.
- Distribute manufacturing drawings and technical documentation.
- Maintain and manage the product configurator.
- Design & Development
- Support design engineering efforts for new product development.
- Ensure products are manufactured and installed according to customer-approved drawings.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Promote a positive company image to both internal and external customers.
- Perform other engineering duties as assigned.
- Engineering Drawing Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints and engineering drawings.
- CAD Proficiency: Skilled in assessing and organizing CAD files.
- Software Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and SAP-B1.
- Product Development Knowledge: Understanding of product development cycles and process ownership.
- Manufacturing Support: Ability to provide technical support to manufacturing and field technicians.
Leadership & Management
- Team Oversight: Experience in supervising and mentoring engineering staff.
- Training Development: Ability to create and implement training programs and documentation (e.g., playbooks).
- Process Standardization: Competence in developing and maintaining engineering process standards.
Communication & Collaboration
- Written and Verbal Communication: Strong communication and writing skills for technical and cross-functional collaboration.
- Customer Orientation: Ability to represent the company positively to internal and external stakeholders.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Skilled in distributing technical information and coordinating with manufacturing and field teams.
Other
- Proven 10 years experience in product engineering. Preferred, is design engineering in the Security Door, Grille and Shutter business.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring or overseeing other engineers.
- Experience with product development cycles and process ownership responsibilities.
- B.S./B.A. Degree or equivalent experience.
- Time Management skills: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
- Excellent Customer Service skills.
- Committed and flexible team player.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, technology driven, service environment.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs and across remote offices.

Work Environment
