We’re looking for a reliable and motivated Accounts Payable Specialist to join our growing automotive group. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring our financial operations run smoothly by managing vendor invoices, reconciling accounts, and supporting the day-to-day accounting functions across multiple dealership locations. Responsibilities:
- Process accounts payable timely and accurately, ensuring expenses are posted in the proper period and to the proper account
- Act as a key liaison between accounting and operational staff to ensure proper controls and vendor payments
- Reconcile Accounts Payable schedules and maintain vendor files
- Lead and assist with month-end and year-end processes (accruals, out-of-period expenses, schedules, 1099's, etc.)
- Reconcile monthly factory statements for multiple dealerships, payable accounts, and various vendor statements
- Post end-of-month corporate statements
- Process miscellaneous checks as needed
- Work with vendors and respond to miscellaneous inquiries as needed
- Document current processes, define gaps and recommend standardized processes
- Assist with ad-hoc projects, additional duties as directed
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2+ years of accounts payable or general accounting experience (automotive dealership experience a plus)
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher in Accounting or related field preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with accounting software (e.g., CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, QuickBooks) is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting: The majority of the workday is spent sitting at a desk, using a computer and phone.
- Standing and Walking: There may be times when the accountant needs to stand, walk around the office, or attend meetings.
- Reaching and Bending: The accountant may need to reach for files, supplies, or equipment.
- Lifting: Occasionally, there might be a need to lift or move documents, supplies, or equipment. Occasionally lifts up to 20 pounds.
