Overview

As the Vice President of Strategy at SEG, you will lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that drive growth and innovation across our diverse civil engineering services. Your role involves collaborating with leadership to bring in new business, grow existing client relationships, identify new market opportunities, and ensure alignment with our long-term vision. By fostering a strategic mindset and leveraging industry insights, you will play a pivotal role in shaping SEG's future success.
Responsibilities
- Assist the CEO in the development and implementation of SEG’s strategic plan, aligning with the company’s long-term vision and goals
- Facilitate strategic planning sessions and workshops to engage leadership and staff in the strategic direction of SEG
- Monitor and report on the performance of strategic initiatives, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement
- Lead the innovation agenda, fostering a culture of creativity and identifying new technologies and methods to improve civil engineering solutions
- Oversee the creation and execution of SEG’s marketing and business development strategies to drive growth and brand awareness
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes relevant to civil engineering solutions
- Build and implement capture plans and pursuit strategies for key clients, markets, and geographies—including targeted expansion in Dallas and North Carolina.
- Guide and mentor the technical leadership team to exceed sales targets and improve client acquisition.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, cold outreach, and market research.
- Build strong relationships with existing and potential clients, ensuring SEG’s value is consistently communicated and trusted.
Requirements
Qualifications
- At least 10 years of experience in civil engineering or an adjacent industry, with a focus on strategic planning and business development
- Proven track record of leading and implementing successful strategic initiatives and projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA or Master’s in Engineering) preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess market trends and identify growth opportunities
- Proven success in developing new business, exceeding sales targets, and managing pursuit efforts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with senior leadership, stakeholders, and external partners
- Ability to develop and articulate a clear vision and strategic direction for the company
- Experience in managing and optimizing business processes and operations to enhance efficiency and profitability
- Leadership experience in cross-functional teams, driving innovation, and fostering a strategic mindset within the organization
Education & Licensure
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA or Master’s in Engineering) preferred
