Individualized Home Supports with Family Training

We’re looking for a creative, honest, and energetic direct support worker to support a vibrant and passionate preteen as she builds independence and confidence in her daily life. Your job is to guide, teach, model, and make learning new skills fun as she navigates life at home and in the community.

About the Role:
Think of this as a mentorship, coaching, life and skill building job that focuses on the goals of a girl who’s entering 7th grade and who loves dancing, loves her cats, loves anything to do with skincare and makeup, and is figuring out her own path. As a Direct Support Professional providing Individualized Home Supports (IHS), you’ll be part of the team helping her learn, retain, and improve the following life skills:
- Time management and the how and why of prioritizing
- Budgeting and spending wisely
- Meal prep and kitchen skills
- Chores and routines to maintain a clean home
- Researching requirements for teen jobs like babysitting or summer camp counselor
- Staying on top of schoolwork
- Being active: walks, bike rides, and screen-free fun
- You’ll also help her get out in the community
Who You Are:
You're probably a natural helper maybe a para, a teacher, a former camp counselor, or a college student studying social work, education, psychology, or human services. You are someone who is good at:
- Creating routines and prioritizing
- Talking through impulse decisions and helping with emotional regulation
- Making learning things new fun and making chores feel like wins
- Respecting cultural and religious needs such as her Kosher diet and her spirituality
- Be mindful and present and always person centered
You must have a reliable vehicle and a clean driving record. Non-smoker and must be ok with cats. Female applicants are preferred by the family. Must be 18 or older. Strong command of the English language spoken and written and the ability to document daily progress in person-centered language are requirements. Training consists of an in-person orientation, online trainings as per 245D and 9544 Positive Supports, and training to the individual’s support plan.

Expected hours: 12 hours per week
Expected shifts: Monday-Friday, 3:00 pm-7:00 pm, flexible start on Friday
