Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:
The Director of Training is responsible for the effective and efficient provision of assigned training and certification activities for RSL staff to assure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards and for quality control under the direction of and as scheduled by the Chief Quality Officer.
JOB DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides staff development and training as assigned and completes documentation as required to meet standards.
- Develops and implements comprehensive training programs and curriculums as agency needs dictate.
- Develops and implements schedule of trainings on a standing rotation.
- Conducts ongoing trainings (including new employee orientation, annual re-certifications, remediations, and training required for plans of correction).
- Establishes, monitors, and coordinates compliance with staff development objectives and activities.
- Maintains his/her own certifications in a current status as required to be authorized to provide training in areas which require a certified instructor.
- Oversees implementation, training, and ongoing accuracy of EHR systems.
REGULAR REQUIRED FUNCTIONS:
- Attends staff meetings and training as instructed.
- Serves as role model to individuals.
- Maintains an active awareness of cultural diversity of individuals and other employees and works to accommodate that diversity in work, training, and leisure activities.
- Is familiar with the RSL Policy and Procedure Manual and with RSL Bloodborne Pathogens/TB/Infectious Disease Plan, OSHA, & HIPAA.
- Performs other duties as requested by the supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Working knowledge of intellectual and other developmental disabilities
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Proficient in Windows operating systems with competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and/or Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets); efficient in managing email and Google Calendar; skilled in basic data entry and organizing digital files.
- Ability to plan, organize and carry out work with a minimum of supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS:
- Four-year degree and 2 years’ experience in IDD; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Work experience as a trainer or similar position.
- Must have own transportation.
