The Marketing Specialist plays a key role in planning and executing cause marketing partnerships and social media campaigns that grow our visibility, engage our community, and support our fundraising goals. Reporting to the Marketing Manager and working closely with internal teams and vendors, the Marketing Specialist will:
- Lead day-to-day social media management across platforms.
- Support the creation of marketing collateral and digital content.
- Help activate national cause marketing campaigns at the local level.
- Develop and execute creative local business partnerships that align with our mission.
While the majority of the work will support United Food Bank, about 10% of time will be dedicated to Waste Not, a second brand managed by the organization.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Social Media & Digital Content (40%)
- Manage day-to-day social media for both United Food Bank and Waste Not via Sprout Social, including content creation, scheduling, and community engagement.
- Create engaging multimedia content including Reels, TikToks, and short-form videos for storytelling and campaign promotion.
- Attend events, food distributions, and community activities to capture compelling visuals for digital use.
- Monitor and analyze social media performance to optimize future efforts.
Cause Marketing & Partnerships (30%)
- Work closely with Community Engagement team, and Corporate Partners to plan and execute cause marketing campaigns, including local activations of national campaigns.
- Develop creative marketing strategies with local businesses and ensure fulfillment of agreed-upon sponsorship benefits, including promotion, recognition, and logistical support.
- Track and report performance of cause marketing partnerships and activations.
- Serve as a key marketing liaison to community partners and sponsors.
Marketing Collateral & General Support (30%)
- Assist with content updates to the website and online listings.
- Develop monthly e-newsletters and support email marketing campaigns.
- Design and develop marketing materials including flyers, signage, and campaign assets.
- Collaborate with the storytelling and development teams to craft mission-aligned content.
- Support team operations including project tracking, vendor coordination, and asset organization.
Qualifications:
- Passion for alleviating hunger and aligning with our mission and values
- Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s degree (A.A.) (or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school) and 2+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2-3 years of professional marketing experience with a focus on social media and content marketing
- Client Partnership or business development experience preferred
- Comfortable using or learning AI tools to support content creation and editing workflows
- Proficient in or familiar with Sprout Social, Mailchimp, Canva, WordPress, and Google Analytics (or comparable tools)
- Computer proficiency in Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Software, specifically Word and Excel
- Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision and adapt to shifting priorities
- PR and event coordination experience a plus
- Photography/Videography experience a plus
- Proficient in creating diverse marketing collateral and promotional materials
- Experience executing social media strategies and campaigns
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated individual
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to the needs of the food bank
- Ability to effectively analyze situations and resolve routine and complex problems
- Adept at handling multiple tasks and concurrent projects
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
