What you'll do...

The Armed Security Guard I (ASG) is a valued member of the TCS Security team, which protects our client’s premises, assets, personnel, and maintains a high visibility presence, and prevents illegal or inappropriate actions. The ASG’s responsibility is to provide armed guard services and maintain a safe and secure environment for the employees and visitors of the Baltimore City Department of Social Services locations. 

Day to day you’ll …

  • Provide basic site monitoring, perimeter survey, public information assistance, emergency notification and assistance   
  • Ensure to carry out oral and written instructions and instruct others on necessary rules, duties, and functions 
  • Communicate professionally, courteously, and effectively with the public 
  • Ensure no unauthorized person(s) are in the building and observe activities of individuals in the building to ensure that building rules and regulations are observed by requesting compliance 
  • Adhere to post Orders, SOPs, and all other site, company, and contract requirements 
  • Obtain proper photo ID for all visitors prior to granting access to the building; issue the appropriate visitor ID badge(s) to the visitor(s), ensure that all visitors are escorted to their destinations when required 
  • Control access to parking lot; enforce rules on parking in permit areas, visitor parking areas and restricted parking areas 
  • Use security equipment such as electronic access card scanners, and personnel and vehicle-searching equipment if applicable 
  • Refrain from alcohol consumption at least eight (8) hours prior to your shift and not report to duty under the influence of any alcohol 
  • Refrain from using any cellular or smart device while on post unless in emergencies Maintain the cleanliness of your work area and equipment 
  • Report any unusual activity or security violations to the facility manager 
  • Safely use government property if assigned, and immediately report lost, damaged, or stolen government property to a direct supervisor or the next personnel in the chain of command 

Pay

$19/ hour  


Schedule 

1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift

Requirements

What you'll bring to the team...

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent. 

Work Experience

  • Must have at least two years of security guard service. 

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older 
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Maryland Guard Card 
  • Must be able to pass a background check, pre-employment  
  • Must be physically and mentally capable of performing duties as required 
  • Must be physically able to climb stairs, and free of any hearing impairment 
  • Must have vision corrected to 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other 
  • Must comply with the company’s Fitness for Duty policy 
  • Must be capable of exercising judgment and acting quickly in an emergency. 
  • Must be of such temperament and maturity as to be able to function under physical threats and verbal abuse without taking such behavior personally  
  • Must be polite, respectful, patient, understanding, able to adapt to challenging situations, and able to treat the public in a courteous and effective manner 
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate, read, write, and understand instructions in English 
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States of America 

Training

ASG must have and/or receive and maintain initial and recurring training including but not limited to the following: 

  • Customer service training 
  • Maryland HQL and CCW 
  • 12-hour Security Training 
  • OC Spray, Baton, and Handcuffing 
  • CPR, Narcan, and First Aid 
  • De-escalation and Dealing with Difficult Customers training 
  • Any other training mandated by the company or required per the contract 
  • All training required by the Director of Security
