The Armed Security Officer (ASO) is responsible for the protection and safeguarding of personnel, visitors, and federal property. The ASO maintains a secure environment by enforcing access control, conducting patrols, and responding to incidents in accordance with federal regulations, client expectations, and TCS policies.
Day to day you’ll…
- Conduct security patrols to detect suspicious activity and deter unauthorized access
- Enforce access control by verifying credentials and monitoring entry/exit points
- Protect property from theft, sabotage, fire, and other threats
- Respond to alarms, accidents, and incidents, contacting emergency services as needed
- Investigate and document incidents, safety hazards, and violations
- Operate screening equipment (e.g., metal detectors) and inspect packages when necessary
- Assist employees, customers, and visitors in following safety/security procedures
- Compose clear, concise reports and daily activity logs
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor in high-pressure situations
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of armed security, military service (honorably discharged), or law enforcement.
- Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency (with honorable military discharge, if applicable)
- At least 21 years of age
- Valid Driver’s License
- DD-214 – if applicable
- Physical Exam
- Drug Screening
- PAT – Physical Agility Test
- OPM Background (Public Trust) through EPA (must be completed before starting training).
- Favorable Fitness Determination (FPS Suitability).
- SSA Card
Required Certifications & Training
To Start / Before Interview:
- OPOTA Certification – must be current (required at interview).
We Will Apply For / Provide:
- Gun Card – application handled during onboarding.
Provided During Training (prior to start date):
- OC Certification
- Baton Certification
- NWDTP (Mag/X-Ray Training)
- Gun Card
Additional Required Training & Records (to be completed/maintained):
- First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification
- Tri-Annual Refresher Training
Note: After successfully completing the two (2) week training period, candidates will have received all required certifications (Baton, OC, NWDTP, Gun Card) before their official start date.
