Summary:
Accountable for providing a full range of administrative and medical support responsibilities in a community health setting.
Works under medical supervision of CMO, MD and APRN, general supervision of Practice Manager and Director of Practice
Management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Escorts patients to exam room and prepared for MD or APRN
- Verifies patient information by interviewing the patient, recording medical history, review of medications, screening
- tools; confirming purpose of the visit and enters into medical record.
- Accurately obtains and records vital signs
- Performs office procedures including but not limited to CLIA waived point of care testing, EKG, phlebotomy, and
- spirometry as ordered by a medical provider.
- Maintains effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow in accordance with agency standards
- Ensures lab results are reviewed and signed by provider and disseminated as needed.
- May conduct client education groups and training as directed by provider and/or supervisor.
- Will participate as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team in the assessment, development, implementation
- and evaluation of client’s treatment or health/mental health care plans.
- Maintains medical office instruments, equipment, and supplies and ensures cleanliness of equipment and
- environment in compliance with regulatory and agency standards.
- Maintains all logs and required checks (e.g., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications,
- oxygen, eye wash station)
- Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to appointment and determines needed
- services per practice protocol.
- Performs outreach to engage patients in preventative care services.
- Assists with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, processing prior authorizations, messages, telephone calls, etc.
- Gives instructions to patients as instructed by providers.
- Performs all other duties as required.
*All agency staff are required to attend all mandatory department/agency meetings and trainings
*All Support Staff are required to show proof of a CPR Certification within 60 days of official start date.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
High school graduate with a minimum of 5 year’s experience in a public health care setting or Medical Assistant training
with two years of Public Health Care experience required. Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with EHRs
preferred. Bilingual preferred.
