SUMMARY The After-School Care Program Assistant supports and assist the After-School Care Coordinator in providing and managing a warm, safe, healthy, nuturing after-school environment in which each child can participate in enriching afterschool activities and grow socially, emotionally and spiritually. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. ? Supervise students in grades K-8 during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. ? Assist in planning and facilitating daily activities, including homework help, games, and enrichment activities. ? Prepare and serve snacks to students, ensuring proper hygiene and food safety standards are followed. ? Implement behavior management strategies aligned with Catholic teachings and the program’s policies. ? Monitor indoor and outdoor play areas, enforcing safety guidelines and conflict resolution when necessary. ? Implement behavior management strategies aligned with Catholic teachings and the program’s policies. ? Maintain accurate attendance records and assist with check-in/check-out procedures. ? Communicate with parents through Brightwheel or other school communication platforms regarding their child’s participation and behavior. ? Assist in cleaning and organizing the facility at the end of the day, ensuring a safe environment. ? Prepares materials and classrooms for activities. ? Enforces all administration policies and rules governing students. ? Identifies children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health-related problems and discuss them with the After-Care coordinator and/or school/ELC administration. ? Arranges indoor and outdoor space to facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safety. ? Carries out appropriate, positive guidance as established by the After-Care Coordinator. ? Participates as a cooperative and supportive team member. ? Implements program goals. ? Assists in record/incident keeping for the program. ? Assisting with housekeeping, disinfection, tidiness and decorative needs of the program space as directed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ? Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, including moving supplies and small furniture. ? Frequent standing, walking, and bending to interact with students, including active play and outdoor activities. ? Ability to supervise outdoor activities in various weather conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES ? Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate activities. ? Ability to manage groups of children and foster a positive environment. ? Effective communication skills with students, parents, and staff, ensuring clarity and a respectful tone. ? Basic first aid knowledge or the ability to receive training. ? Must be at least 18 years of age.
