Appalachian Mountain Health has partnered with Asheville High School to seek a compassionate, skilled, and experienced School-Based Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) to join our supportive school community in Asheville, NC. This full-time position will provide mental health services across two campuses serving students in grades K–12, focusing on students with emotional, behavioral, and academic needs, including those with IEPs and/or 504 Plans.
- Provide individual and group counseling to K–12 students, with a focus on those with IEPs and 504 plans
- Conduct mental health assessments and develop treatment plans tailored to the educational environment
- Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and special education teams to support student mental health and academic progress.
- Collaboration with the primary care provider team or a multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in IEP/504 meetings and provide input on social-emotional goals and behavioral interventions.
- Coordinate care and referrals with outside providers, community resources, and families
- Maintain accurate and confidential clinical documentation in compliance with CMS and HRSA for clinical documentation in a healthcare setting.
- Deliver crisis intervention and support as needed
- Promote social-emotional learning and school-wide mental wellness initiatives
- Provide consultation and training to school staff on mental health-related issues
- Current LCSW or LCMHC license in the state of North Carolina (required)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience providing therapeutic services to children and adolescents, preferably in a school or educational setting.
- Familiarity with IEP/504 processes, behavioral interventions, and special education collaboration
- Experience working with diverse populations and commitment to culturally responsive practice
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively across two school campuses and manage a flexible schedule
- Proficient in documentation and case management in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
- Spanish-speaking behavioral health clinicians are preferred, but not required.
