Position Summary

The Machinist II is responsible for interpreting prints and drawings, setting up and operating CNC lathes, CNC mills, and 5-axis CNC mills, and inspecting parts to ensure they meet all specifications. This role focuses on producing high-quality parts by performing setups, selecting tooling, and using precision measuring equipment. The Machinist II works with minimal supervision and demonstrates a solid understanding of CNC machining practices.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and/or models to understand part specifications and tolerances.
  • Select appropriate tools and fixtures, and set up CNC machines according to process documentation.
  • Set up and operate CNC lathes and/or 5-axis CNC mills to produce complex parts to tight tolerances.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Identify and resolve machining issues during setups and production runs to maintain part quality and meet deadlines.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance tasks and ensure equipment is used safely and properly.
  • Record job information accurately, including time tracking and inspection results, in accordance with ISO documentation requirements.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Education and Experience

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical school training preferred.
  • Experience: 3 years of CNC machining experience preferred.

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and safely lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident due to export-controlled program requirements.

The compensation range posted represents the full salary range for the role. Actual pay will be determined based on a candidate’s experience, skills, and the position level ultimately offered. Second shift positions are also eligible for a 10% shift differential.
