Position Summary


The Communications & Marketing Specialist supports the organization by raising awareness and introducing our work and services to a wider audience. This position executes and supports the marketing and communications for our organization, working in coordination with members of the Development team to bolster fundraising and patient acquisition efforts of NeighborHealth Center (NHC). This position is responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and enhancement of NHC’s messaging, development and implementation of communications strategy in collaboration with staff and contractors. The role also supports events, outreach, collateral production, digital content and other efforts engage NHC stakeholders: donors, patients, grantors, businesses, sponsors, Board, and staff. The person in this role will report to the Director of Development. The role collaborates with team members on events and other communications and marketing activities.

Requirements

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement annual communications plans and strategies, raise awareness, and promote NHC services to the target audiences. 
  • Advance communication and marketing tactics for new projects, events, and initiatives, ensuring alignment with NHC’s strategic priorities and branding guidelines, collaborating with the Director of Development and communications contract staff. 
  • Coordinate the development and organization of an internal story bank, working with and interviewing staff and stakeholders in the sharing of stories for communications, marketing, and media. 
  • Ensure the integrity and relevance of NHC website for accuracy, functionality, engagement, and ease of navigation. 
  • Produce written communications and correspondence for donor engagement, solicitation, appreciation and stewardship, working collaboratively with the Director of Development.
  • Oversee the creation of marketing and communications deliverables working with a team that includes staff, outside designers, and printers in the production of digital and print collateral. 
  • Take ownership of corporate sponsorship benefits development and fulfillment plan, working with the Development Team and communications contractors, as part of a corporate engagement program.
  • Ensure consistency of brand standards, messaging, mission, vision, and values with all audiences, internal and external, by taking responsibility for establishing and implementing best practices to guide all communication and marketing efforts.
  • Support events designed to increase visibility of NHC to external constituencies. 
  • Help manage and organize photography and videography needs for events, activities, and general awareness for use in publications and media. Help maintain NHC’s graphics and photo files. 
  • Guide the implementation of social media strategies to ensure achievement of a regular cadence and to increase audience engagement. 
  • Perform supportive administrative functions of the development team. 


Required Knowledge, Experience, Skills, or Abilities

  • An undergraduate degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or business; non-profit and healthcare experience is a plus. 
  • Strong written, verbal communications, and interpersonal skills with a wide range of roles.
  • Experience or demonstrated ability in marketing, communications, email & mail campaigns, social media and graphic design.
  • Computer literacy in internet use and Microsoft Office suite tools, Canva, WordPress, MailChimp or comparable CRM communications platforms.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple and varied projects, priorities, and deadlines, demonstrating grace under pressure.
  • Comfort working independently and collaboratively as part of a team. 
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with co-workers and community members.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing events and complex activities in support of development objectives.
  • Ability to identify opportunities, solutions, and resolve challenges.
  • Undertake special projects assigned.
  • Ability to work 40 hours weekly, during the hours of 8am and 5pm with occasional hours outside this timeframe as needed and agreed upon. Hybrid work optional for 1 – 2 days weekly.
