Feature Zone Lead Attendant
Mt. Baker Ski Area Feature Zone
Description

General Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with FZ Manager and/or Supervisor to assess daily projects and project future needs.
  • Organize Attendants to perform daily tasks.
  • Ensure daily set up and breakdown of the Feature Zone(s) meets standards as trained.
  • Maintain public facing signage and zone markings for maximum visibility by the public.
  • Testing and assessment of features prior to opening and throughout shift.
  • Help provide education to Feature Zone users regarding purpose and intended usage of features.
  • Maintain on-snow features throughout the shift.
  • Monitor the Feature Zone of injuries and incidents and communicate quickly and effectively with other departments for rapid response.
  • Communicate concerns and customer requests to the manager daily.
  • Assist in repairing features on and off snow, independently or in coordination with other departments.
  • Assist Manager and Grooming Department with layout and construction of the Feature Zone as well as mid-season changes. 
  • Attend Cross Departmental Meetings to provide/receive information about current/upcoming mountain operations.
  • Perform work duties in accordance with business policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Provide feedback regarding customer concerns, comments, and operational ways to enhance efficiencies.
  • Create and participate in a positive and inclusive workplace.
  • Have a working knowledge of Mt. Baker Ski Area Mountain policies and procedures as well as have familiarity of ski area facilities and services available. 
  • Stay informed of pertinent daily information and relaying relevant information to employees and visitors.
  • Follow safety guidelines as described in the Accident Prevention Plan and as trained.
  • Report safety concerns directly to the department manager, Director of Mountain Operations, and General Manager as trained.
  • Actively participate in fostering a positive safety culture through words and actions.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Starting Rate:

Rate begins at $18.50/hr with increases for experience, merit, tenure and future WA State minimum wage adjustments possible.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Willingness to learn.

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Successful completion of FFZ Online Training and Lead Addendum. 
  • Successful completion of FFZ Training at Orientation.
  • Successful completion of lift attendant training or other cross department training by an authorized Mt. Baker Ski Area trainer or ability to complete training prior to first shift
  • Pass an on snow Feature Tester Evaluation for feature testing.

General Physical Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to work outside in inclement winter weather.
  • Bending, twisting, lifting and moving items throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift and move 50 pounds (or more depending on task).
  • Standing and or sitting for long periods.
  • Shoveling and moving snow.
  • Standing and walking on compact snow and ice.
  • Perform repetitive tasks as necessary.
  • Proficient skiing/riding ability.
