Mt. Baker Ski Area Food Services
Description

General Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties as trained for position assigned in food service (could include but not be limited to:
  • Cook, cashier, barista, dining room attendant, dishwasher, safety setup, bartender, food runner, and/or supervisor)
  • Provide excellent friendly and respectful customer service
  • Have a working knowledge of Mt. Baker Ski Area mountain policies and procedures, familiarity of ski area facilities and services available, as well as safe food handling practices
  • Create and participate in a positive and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to learn
  • Successful completion of food service training by an authorized Mt. Baker Ski Area trainer
  • Have or obtain upon employment a current Food Handlers Card for the state of Washington
  • Have or obtain upon employment a current class 12 MAST card, depending on position

Position Descriptions:

Cashier:

  • Meets all qualifications and general requirements
  • Customer service 
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, crowded environment and maintain composure
  • Money handling and use of point of sale system
  • Clean and stock food court area
  • Cashiers may also serve as baristas, food runners or bartenders. (Bartenders and other alcohol service personnel must have or obtain a valid MAST card) 

Cooks:

  • Meets all qualifications and general requirements
  • Customer service 
  • Food preparation
  • Cleaning the kitchen and food service areas
  • Work takes place in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Use of equipment as trained

Dining Room Attendant/Dishwasher/Safety Setup:

  • Meets all general requirements
  • Customer service
  • Clean all food service areas 
  • Wash dishes
  • Work may take place in a fast pace, crowded environment

*NOTE: All Food Service employees may be trained in and asked to help with duties outside their primary position.

Starting Pay Rate:

  • Starting rate begins at $16.66/hour plus tips through tip pool (approximately additional $4/hour worked) with increases for experience, merit, tenure and future WA State minimum wage adjustments possible. 

*Tips are pooled between all Food Service employees based on the number of hours worked and added to each paycheck. 

Requirements

General Physical Requirements

  • Bending, twisting, lifting and moving items throughout the day
  • Ability to lift and move 30 pounds (or more depending on task)
  • Standing and or sitting for long periods
  • Climbing and descending stairs
  • Shoveling and moving snow
  • Standing and walking on compact snow and ice
  • Perform repetitive tasks as necessary
