Job Summary

The Grocery Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring grocery products for the Piggly Wiggly Alabama Distributing Company (PWADC) warehouse and retail partners. This role also carries the broader responsibilities, including strategic planning, vendor relationship management, pricing strategy, promotional planning, and data-driven decision-making to drive profitable sales growth across the grocery category portfolio.

The successful candidate will balance day-to-day procurement activities with long-term category development, ensuring PWADC remains competitive and aligned with market trends and customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Source, negotiate, and purchase grocery products for ~250 stores.
   
• Monitor inventory and manage purchase orders to ensure timely product flow.
   
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and promotional allowances with vendors and brokers.
   
• Review sales and market data to recommend product mix, pricing, and promotions.
   
• Build and maintain strong vendor partnerships to secure competitive programs.
   
• Collaborate with warehouse and retail teams to align buying decisions with store needs.
