Position Summary
Staff physicians work in collaboration with other healthcare professionals in the delivery of primary care services. PMG physician duties are tailored to the family unit in which direct care, health promotion, disease prevention and counseling are offered across the patient’s lifespan.
Description of Primary Responsibilities
1) Responsible for patient care
a) Provide necessary medical services to patients of Palms Medical Group within his/her scope of practice and field of training in accordance with stated policies, procedures and protocols of PMG.
b) Identify him/herself as a physician and wear identification badge at all times.
c) Exhibit professionalism when greeting and treating patients in the clinic.
d) Educate, counsel and guide patients on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle habits
e) Prescribe medication as defined by state and federal laws and within his/her scope of practice.
f) Develop treatment plans for acute and chronic diseases across life cycle specified by specialty/field of training.
g) Preform diagnostic tests, screening evaluations and conduct patient exams.
h) Provide other services as granted by delineation of privileges.
2) Responsible for coverage
a) Be available for contact after hours to treat or triage medical conditions.
b) Share in providing coverage for extended office hours of PMG as approved by the Board of Directors.
2) Responsible for administrative duties
a) Read and adhere to the Clinical Policy Manual.
b) Assist in medical data collection for UDS and grant applications as directed by the CMO.
c) Participate in QA/QI activities as directed by the CMO
d) Agree to carry out all required responsibilities of the corporation relative to patient charges, third party reimbursement, etc.
e) Maintain the electronic health record per current PMG policies and procedures
f) Advise the appropriate member of management, as defined by the institutions organizational chart, of any problems you perceive with PMG operations.
g) Participate in community service and health promotion programs
h) Participate in the review of all medical policies, procedures and protocols
i) Assume, as requested by the CMO, the supervision of staff ARNPs and Physician Assistants in accordance with Florida statutory requirements.
j) perform any other duty assigned by CMO or CEO to improve the efficiency of PMG.
Licenses & Certifications:
1) Graduate of an accredited medical school with a M.D. or D.O. degree
2) Current and Valid physician license in the State of Florida
3) Maintain Board Certification
4) Current DEA certification
5) Current BLS (basic life support) Certification
General Development:
1) Must be organized, a self-starter and detailed oriented
2) Job duties require the ability to work independently and as part of a team
3) Expected to travel and cover other sites during provider absences
4) Expected to coach, mentor and train clinical staff
5) Assist in the training and mentoring of coworkers by sharing knowledge, providing guidance, and supporting skill development.
Professional & Technical Knowledge:
