Part-Time Evening Dorm Parent

Time Commitment/Hours:  1.25 evenings during the week (Monday-Friday) from 7:45 pm - 11:30 pm and every fourth weekend (Friday and Saturday) from 7:45 pm - 12:00 am from January 5 - May 31 


Compensation/Benefits: $2,500 stipend; dinner is included on duty nights. 


Job Purpose:    

A vital role supporting students and the overall school community to ensure the smooth functioning of the school’s residential life program. This role is central to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive living environment for our students. 


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be available for evening shifts during the week (7:45pm-11:30 pm) and 2 weekends per month (7:45pm-12:00 am).
  • Build a positive and inclusive dormitory culture.
  • Perform safety and wellness checks including rounds, lights out and room checks.
  • Provide first aid or facilitate medical care in coordination with the SOC and health center.
  • Uphold and enforce dorm rules and routines.
  • Manage administrative tasks while on duty (attendance, forms, etc.).
  • Supervise and support student events, activities and outings while on duty.
  • Adhere to all School policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Continually meet or exceed Pomfret School’s Standards of Behavior, Character, and Engagement
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Work Conditions:

  • Requires walking, standing, reaching, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs
  • The majority of duties are performed indoors
  • Some responsibilities will require being outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree required but will consider current college students with anticipated graduation date of 2027 or sooner.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Experience with or interest in residential life, education or student mentorship.
  • Ability to pass federal background check, fingerprinting and screening required.
