Job Description:     


The Director of Product Platform will lead the vision, strategy, and execution of our core technology platform, leading a team of product managers whose responsibilities encompass platform infrastructure, internal tooling, third-party vendor management, data flows, and integrations with our homegrown product supporting virtual care. In the first 90 days this role will focus on building strong stakeholder partnerships to identify business needs and gaps, providing recommendations on hiring needs and scaling capabilities required to deliver a strong product platform strategy. This is a new role and function and the Director will be charged with establishing and scaling a team. The Director of Product Platform will be the primary technical product counterpart for our internal business stakeholders, focused on building the infrastructure, tools, and shared capabilities that power our internal teams. The Director of Product Platform will be a close partner to the Director of Product Management, who leads our market-facing product teams encompassing our care verticals and member experience. 


As the technical product leader, you will ensure our platform is reliable, scalable, and flexible — enabling rapid product development, regulatory compliance, and seamless integration with partners and clients. You will partner closely with Product Engineering, Data Engineering, Analytics, IT, and Security teams, as well as with care delivery product leaders, to deliver the foundation for growth and innovation. You will be an expert in AI tooling, identifying opportunities for efficiencies and acceleration leveraging AI. You will lead roadmap development and strategy for the Product Platform team, building and cultivating a team of technical product managers to support infrastructure and scale. You will serve as a thought partner to executive leadership and a highly visible internal leader driving excellence and accountability in our internal product platform. This role reports to the SVP of Product. 


Responsibilities:    


Platform Strategy & Vision 

  • Define the long-term strategy for our product platform, balancing scalability, security, and speed of innovation
  • Establish the roadmap for infrastructure and internal tooling that support care products and deliver solutions to meet internal business needs
  • Champion a platform-first mindset, ensuring product lines benefit from common capabilities and shared infrastructure 

Team Leadership & Development 

  • Recruit, coach, and develop a team of product managers, including technical product managers, to scale our product platform 
  • Day-to-day tactical management of the team: internal product team processes, cross-scrum team collaboration, backlog management, tooling (Jira, Confluence, Heap), data reporting, and strong partnerships 
  • Establish performance expectations, career development plans, and a culture of accountability and excellence
  • Create a culture of collaboration, transparency, and technical excellence within the product team 

Cross-Functional Leadership 

  • Work closely with IT, Clinical QA, Security, and Operations to ensure our platform meets healthcare regulatory requirements
  • Partner with clinical and product leaders to ensure platform design supports patient safety, quality of care, and provider workflows
  • Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, making complex concepts accessible and actionable
  • Partner with engineering leadership to design and deliver platform features, APIs, and tools that enable product teams to move faster
  • Ensure alignment between platform investments and the needs of patient-facing products
  • Drive adoption of platform capabilities across teams, measuring impact and iterating based on feedback 

Processes & Coordination 

  • Drive consistent practices around product discovery, requirements, and measurement
  • Implement tools and rituals that improve transparency and coordination between Product, Engineering, and stakeholder teams 

Strategic Alignment 

  • Partner with senior leadership to define priorities and allocate resources across product platform areas
  • Ensure that product platform team roadmaps are integrated, realistic, and reflect both internal user needs and business strategy
  • Champion company-wide platform initiatives 

Requirements:  

Education: 

Advanced degree preferred 

Experience: 

  • 8–10+  years of product management experience, including 3+ years managing and developing product managers
  • Proven success leading platform, infrastructure, and API products in SaaS, digital health, or other highly regulated industries. Healthcare and virtual healthcare experience strongly preferred
  • Depth of expertise in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and technical integrations strongly preferred 
  • Track record of building successful ecosystems of integrated tooling, connecting third-party technology with homegrown systems 
  • Intuitive familiarity with regulatory environment, including HIPAA, provider licensing, and security standards for patient privacy and safety 
  • Familiarity and fluency with AI applications in a healthcare setting 
  • Strong technical fluency, able to engage deeply with engineering on architecture, data, and system design tradeoffs
  • Experience balancing short-term delivery needs with long-term scalability and maintainability

  • People management expertise, with a focus on mentorship and team scale 
  • Technical fluency and credibility partnering closely with Engineering. Very deep and intuitive understanding of APIs and backend development
  • Deep user empathy and expert bridge-builder, with Product as the “hub of the wheel” coordinating cross-functional alignment and initiative delivery 
  • Strong expertise in user and market research strategies, deploying design thinking and building platform products anchored in human-centered design 
  • Stakeholder relationship-building, training, and expectation management
