Description

The Instructional Coach – Community & Volunteering supports inclusive, community-based programming by assisting with curriculum planning and coaching DSP staff in instructional delivery focused on community engagement and volunteer activities. This role promotes consistency, quality services, and meaningful community participation while also fulfilling DSP responsibilities.


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Coach DSPs on instructional strategies that promote community inclusion and engagement.
  • Assist with staff training, and professional development.
  • Monitor instructional quality and provide feedback.
  • Support scheduling, planning, and staff coverage needs.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for instructional or engagement concerns.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing curriculum and lesson plans centered on community access, volunteering, and life skills.
  • Coordinate with the Program Facilitator to schedule community-based activities.
  • Model instructional delivery in community and volunteer settings.
  • Build familiarity with local community resources and volunteer opportunities.
  • Support DSPs in facilitating safe, meaningful community participation.
  • Promote consumer choice, self-advocacy, and independence.
  • Assist with documentation, data collection, and outcome tracking.
  • Communicate effectively with consumers, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Provide direct support coverage as needed.
  • Serve as the program expert on community and volunteering initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with agency standards and policies.
Requirements
  •  At least 18 years of age.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in community settings.
  • Problem-solving and adaptability skills.
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with community resources, volunteering, or civic engagement preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift at least 35 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the community.
  • Ability to assist consumers with physical and personal support needs.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to community locations.
