SMG seeks a Safety Advisor with LOTO and Commissioning experience in Lebanon, Indiana.


The key function of a Safety Advisor is to prioritize safety at the forefront of their job, put the client's needs first, work effectively in a team setting, be self-managed, and remain flexible in the face of change.


  Overview of Job Responsibilities:  

  • Perform detailed ESI evaluations through field verifications, which include assessing the magnitude, energy types, and isolation points.
  • Conducts site safety observations and documents findings
  • Facilitates corrective actions when necessary
  • Represents the contractor or Owner in progress meetings
  • Verifies compliance with safety policies and procedures as required by law, the Owner, or the contractor
  • Attends pre-construction planning and safety meetings
  • Provides incident management and support
  • Prepares documentation and reports
  • Conducts reviews of contractor safety programs

Site Safety Activities: 

  • Provide assistance, as an extension to the team, with fulfilling requirements, GHSE requests, and maintain audit readiness. 
  • Serve as a liaison with area stakeholders. 
  • Maintain regular reporting of site activities. 
  • Review job tasks for site employees to help identify risks and participate in project team meetings. 
  • Partner with Project Safety Coordinator to support a safe work environment. 
Requirements
  • 5 years of previous Construction Safety experience
  • Degree in Safety or related field, preferred
  • Previous Commissioning experience
  • Previous Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) experience 
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Course  

Physical Demands of the job may include:

  • Moving about long distances
  • Ascending/descending stairs and ladders
  • Remaining in a stationary position for a prolonged period
  • Working in extreme weather
  • Being exposed to loud noises
  • Wearing personal protective gear correctly
