University Physicians' Association is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Clinical Health Educator for University Surgeons Associates located in Knoxville, TN.

General Summary: The Clinical Health Educator assists surgical bariatric, surgical prehabilitation and medical weight loss patients during their weight loss journey.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Conduct patient follow-up through in-person or telephone (telehealth) visits within the scope of the Health Educator role. 
2. Reinforce nutrition, physical activity, and healthy lifestyle education consistent with program protocols for bariatric surgery and medical weight management patients.
3. Assist patients in weight loss goal setting, lifestyle modification plans, and general healthy living education. 
4. Evaluate food journals and collect appropriate data to provide patient-specific feedback and acknowledge achievements. 
5. Maintain knowledge of program-approved vitamin and nutrition products and provide education and samples as appropriate. 
6. Assist with patient education by presenting assigned topics, such as physical activity, for bariatric educational classes. 
7. Collaborate and communicate with surgeons, advanced practice providers, and the bariatric dietitian to optimize patient care. 
8. Assist with data collection and quality improvement activities related to MBSAQIP accreditation. 
9. Operate standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, and telephones. Maintain proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and the electronic medical record.
