In this customer-facing role, you will be the primary point of contact for both existing and prospective accounts, providing expert product knowledge and responsive service to meet a wide range of industrial needs. Working closely with branch management, outside sales, and internal teams, you will manage inquiries, prepare quotes, process orders, and proactively identify opportunities to grow business relationships. This position is ideal for a mechanically minded professional who enjoys problem-solving, building lasting customer partnerships, and contributing to the success of a fast-growing industrial distributor.
Responsibilities:
• Work cooperatively with management, all other branch and division personnel, and outside sales reps to grow existing customers, create new customers, and increase customer satisfaction
• Respond to customer inquiries at the sales counter, by phone and by email
• Process customer orders, check availability of stock, shipping dates, quote pricing, fill orders to customer specifications
• Apply mechanical principles to address customer needs
• Provide solutions and recommend new and better products
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Customer outreach and quote follow up to dormant accounts
Qualifications (skills, abilities, experience, education):
• 2-5 years of experience in the industrial distribution industry or an allied industry a plus
• Experience in applying power transmission components to solve industrial applications, including speed reducers, brakes, pulleys, sprockets, gearing and electric motors a plus
• Experience with Epicor Prophet 21or similar distribution software preferred, but not required
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills
• Mechanical and mathematical aptitude
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• High school diploma or equivalent
