Position Summary


The Plumbing/HVAC Insulator is responsible for insulating piping, ductwork, and related mechanical systems to ensure energy efficiency, condensation control, and compliance with project specifications. This role requires knowledge of insulation materials and techniques, as well as the ability to work safely and efficiently in construction environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • • Measure, cut, and install insulation materials on HVAC ductwork, plumbing systems, chillers, boilers, and related equipment.
  • • Select proper insulation types and thicknesses based on system design and specifications.
  • • Apply vapor barriers, jacketing, adhesives, and coatings to protect insulation.
  • • Fabricate and install sheet metal or PVC jacketing for protection and finish.
  • • Safely use hand tools, power tools, and cutting equipment to prepare materials.
  • • Inspect installed insulation to ensure quality and compliance with drawings and codes.
  • • Work closely with project managers, foremen, and other trades to maintain schedules.
  • • Maintain a clean, safe work area and comply with all safety policies and OSHA standards.
  • • Assist with material handling, inventory tracking, and jobsite organization.


Qualifications

  • • 2+ years of insulation experience in plumbing, HVAC, or mechanical systems preferred (willing to train motivated candidates).
  • • Knowledge of insulation materials (fiberglass, foam, elastomeric, mineral wool, etc.) and application techniques.
  • • Ability to read and follow blueprints, specifications, and work instructions.
  • • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  • • Ability to lift 50+ lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or elevated areas.
  • • Safety-focused mindset with knowledge of proper PPE use.
  • • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
