Description

Position Summary


The Journeyman HVAC Installer is responsible for the installation, assembly, and start-up of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems on commercial and residential projects. This role ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, building codes, and company standards.



Key Responsibilities

  • • Install, assemble, and test HVAC systems including ductwork, piping, equipment, and controls.
  • • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.
  • • Ensure all installations meet local, state, and federal codes as well as company quality standards.
  • • Perform start-up, troubleshooting, and adjustments of HVAC systems.
  • • Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and other trades to ensure project timelines are met.
  • • Train and mentor apprentices and less experienced installers.
  • • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe condition.
  • • Complete required job documentation, timesheets, and reports accurately and on time.
  • • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific safety requirements.


Qualifications

  • • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred.
  • • Minimum 4 years of progressive HVAC installation experience; journeyman level certification/licensing (as required by state/local jurisdiction).
  • • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and controls.
  • • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
  • • Proficient in use of hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments.
  • • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.



Physical Requirements

  • • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, work at heights, and perform physical tasks in varying weather conditions.
  • • Extended periods of standing, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.
