The Field Training Manager will deliver clinical and technical training, soft skill coaching and develop educational programs in line with agreed global training strategy for the organization. The Field Training Manager is a recognized subject matter expert in study materials and implant protocols, standard best practice techniques, product knowledge and treatment pathways. The role supports all the US business, with occasional international travel. The Field Training Manager must support the organization strategically for success within a competitive market.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Deliver Comprehensive Training Programs: Support and lead live and remote training sessions, both internal and external, ensuring a consistently positive trainee experience through expert technical and clinical knowledge of the WiSE System therapy.
- Develop Training Strategies & Materials: In alignment with the global educational strategy, contribute to the design, development, and continuous enhancement of training materials, curriculum, and certification pathways that support the WiSE System training program.
- Train & Certify New Personnel: Oversee onboarding and skill development for new field operations personnel, Field Clinical Specialists (FCSs), and sales representatives. Conduct knowledge and skills assessments, leading to certification or recommendations for continued training or remediation.
- Conduct High-Impact Physician & Field Training: Deliver compliant, high-quality training for physicians, clinical specialists, and commercial teams through a combination of in-person procedural case support, virtual training, and structured educational sessions. Facilitate physician proctoring and live procedural instruction to ensure competency and safe adoption of technology.
- Provide Expert Clinical & Procedural Support: Serve as a technical and clinical subject matter expert (SME), attending WiSE System implants, device follow-ups, and clinical investigations. Provide direct supervision and mentorship to field operations personnel during procedures to ensure adherence to best practices and company standards.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Collaborate with clinical, marketing, and sales teams to ensure consistent messaging, accurate product positioning, and the integration of new product launches into training initiatives. Act as a liaison between field teams and internal stakeholders to optimize training strategies.
- Evaluate & Improve Training Effectiveness: Continuously assess and enhance training programs by leveraging performance metrics, feedback from trainees, and evolving clinical best practices to drive measurable improvements in learning outcomes.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Mentor and provide guidance to Field Clinical Specialists and other training personnel to enhance technical and clinical competencies.
- Support the Director of Training in building scalable learning platforms, including Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital training content.
- Collaborate with medical affairs, regulatory, and quality teams to ensure training content compliance with FDA and other relevant regulations.
- Assist in planning and executing off-site physician education programs, hands-on cadaver labs, and key opinion leader (KOL) training events.
- Provide field insights to influence product development, clinical trial protocols, and future training strategies.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, workshops, and professional education forums.
Education and Required Experience
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, biomedical engineering, nursing, or related field (or equivalent clinical experience).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the medical device industry, specifically in Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) and/or Electrophysiology (EP).
- Strong background supporting implantable cardiac procedures, either in the cath lab or EP lab.
- Experience managing or mentoring FCSs or clinical support teams.
- Experience with group presentations and hands-on experience with Cardiac Rhythm Management products.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience developing training curriculum and implementing structured onboarding programs.
- Experience supporting commercial launches of new implantable cardiac devices.
- Familiarity with FDA-regulated training materials and industry-standard educational practices.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of CRM and EP products, implant procedures, and cardiac device therapy strategies.
- Instructional Design: Ability to design and manage multi-modal learning solutions, including live labs, digital learning, and LMS-driven pathways.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Excellent ability to work with sales, clinical, marketing, regulatory, and R&D teams to align training programs with business objectives.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation, and facilitation abilities.
- Analytical Mindset: Comfortable using training metrics and performance analytics to optimize program effectiveness.
- Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving priorities and new technology launches.
Physical Requirements:
- Willingness and able to travel approximately 80% of the time, including overnight and occasional weekend travel.
- Required to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Subject to extended periods of sitting and/or standing, vision to monitor, and moderate noise levels.
Salary Range
$130,000.00 - $170,000.00
*Base pay is one part of your total compensation. The salary offered will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to your experience, knowledge, skills, location, internal equity, and market alignment. Addition compensation may include bonuses and equity, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
