Senior Reporter - Health Care Business
Fully Remote Remote
Description

WTWH Media Healthcare is seeking an experienced, high-energy senior business reporter to join the team behind Home Health Care News (HHCN) — the leading source of news, insights and analysis for executives shaping the future of home-based care.

The decentralization of care into the home is one of the most significant transformations in U.S. health care. HHCN sits at the center of that shift. Our audience includes top decision-makers at publicly traded and privately held companies, as well as investors, payers, health system leaders, policymakers and technology partners.

This role is ideal for a journalist who thrives in a fast-moving newsroom, operates with urgency and ownership, and is motivated to produce exclusive, high-value journalism on tight timelines. You’ll work as part of a focused, two-person editorial team dedicated to HHCN, supported by a broader WTWH Media infrastructure that includes editorial colleagues as well as departments including marketing, events, production and executive leadership.

About the Role:

You will monitor the home-based care beat, cultivate high-level industry relationships, break news and produce insightful enterprise reporting. Coverage areas include Medicare-certified home health care, private-pay home care, Medicaid home- and community-based services (HCBS), hospital-at-home models and the broader migration of health care into the home.

As part of a tight-knit editorial team, you will play a central role in powering HHCN’s daily news engine. While you’ll have significant autonomy and responsibility, you will also collaborate regularly with the brand editor and cross-functional colleagues across WTWH to execute newsletters, events, podcasts and strategic initiatives. This is a role for someone who embraces ownership, moves quickly without sacrificing quality and takes pride in delivering a consistently excellent product.

We are actively evolving our editorial model in response to the rise of AI. The ideal candidate understands how AI is reshaping journalism — both as a competitive force and as a powerful reporting tool. You should be comfortable leveraging AI tools to enhance research, speed and workflow efficiency, while focusing your journalism on what AI cannot replicate: deep sourcing, exclusive insights, nuanced analysis and trusted industry relationships.

In addition to reporting and writing, you will serve as a visible representative of HHCN in the industry. This includes hosting and contributing to the HHCN podcast, moderating panels and leading discussions at in-person events such as FUTURE and the Capital+Strategy Conference, and helping convene industry leaders in both live and virtual formats.

We are looking for someone comfortable on stage and on camera, capable of asking smart questions in real time and positioning themselves as a trusted voice within the home-based care community.

Responsibilities:

  • Report, write and publish timely, high-quality business journalism on a daily basis
  • Break news and pursue exclusive stories ahead of competitors
  • Develop and maintain deep relationships with industry executives, investors and stakeholders
  • Conceptualize and execute enterprise stories and analytical deep dives
  • Help shape editorial strategy in a rapidly evolving sector
  • Collaborate with the brand editor on daily newsletter production
  • Host and contribute to podcast episodes and live event programming
  • Represent HHCN at industry conferences and events
  • Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to improve reporting efficiency and output
  • Support select custom content projects (approximately once per quarter), working with colleagues across departments

Requirements

This is a unique opportunity to become one of the leading journalistic voices in one of health care’s fastest-growing sectors. The right candidate will not only report on the industry’s evolution but help shape the conversations that define it, with the backing of a well-established B2B media organization.

  • 3–5+ years of reporting experience, preferably covering business, health care or B2B sectors
  • Demonstrated ability to break news and produce exclusive reporting
  • Strong news judgment and analytical skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with daily deadlines
  • Comfort moderating panels, hosting conversations or appearing on podcasts (or eagerness to grow into that role)
  • Familiarity with AI tools and a willingness to integrate them into reporting workflows
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build high-level industry relationships
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English or related field preferred, but not required
  • Experience using WordPress, Otter, Google Chat, Slack and Monday.com preferred, but not required

When applying, please submit your resume, three writing samples (not behind a paywall) and a cover letter. The strongest writing samples will demonstrate the ability to cover complex topics and produce a range of stories, from quick-turn news to in-depth enterprise reporting.

Travel & Work Environment

This is a remote role with low to moderate travel requirements, including 1–2 external conferences per year and 2–3 internal events. While remote, the expectation is for the HHCN senior reporter to maintain standard working hours.
