Description

HobbyTown, the leading specialty retailer in hobbies, models, and RC products, is seeking an experienced and driven Regional Director to support and grow our franchise network. This role is perfect for a results-oriented retail leader who thrives on coaching, relationship-building, and driving operational excellence across multiple locations.


Position Summary

The Regional Director serves as the key liaison between corporate operations and franchise owners, ensuring consistency, profitability, and adherence to HobbyTown’s brand standards. This individual will coach, support, and guide franchise owners to achieve sales growth, operational efficiency, and outstanding customer experiences across their stores.


Key Responsibilities:

  •  Serve as the main point of contact for franchise owners within the assigned region
  •  Conduct regular business reviews, check-ins, and store visits to assess performance and provide actionable feedback
  •  Coach franchisees on sales, profitability, labor management, and customer service execution
  •  Ensure execution of HobbyTown merchandising, marketing, and brand programs
  •  Oversee financial performance by monitoring P&L, payroll %, and gross margin 
  •  Conduct store audits to evaluate operations, merchandising, safety, and compliance
  •  Identify underperforming locations and create performance improvement plans
  •  Support new franchise openings and onboarding programs
  •  Communicate corporate initiatives, deadlines, and best practices
  •  Build relationships based on trust, collaboration, and mutual success
Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or related field
  •  Minimum of 7 years of experience in multi-unit retail, franchise operations, or regional management
  •  Strong understanding of retail financial metrics (sales, margin, labor efficiency, and expense control)
  •  Proven success in coaching and developing franchise or retail teams
  •  Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, POS systems, and reporting tools
  •  Willingness to travel frequently to franchise and corporate locations

Preferred Skills

  •  Experience working in a franchise or specialty retail model
  •  Familiarity with hobby products, tabletop gaming, RC vehicles, or model kits
  •  Ability to analyze financial statements and translate insights into actionable plans
  •  Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
