Requirements

As the Senior Engineering Manager – Technology Enablement Office (TEO), you’ll be at the center of how VMG Health scales to its next level of growth. In this high-visibility role, you’ll report directly to the CTO and lead the team that turns real-world workflows into modern, automated solutions. You’ll be on the front end of technology innovation at VMG, bringing automation, data, and AI into day-to-day operations so the firm can serve more clients with greater speed, quality, and insight. You will lead a small and mighty team of data- and full-stack engineers, partnering with an Architect, Product Manager, business stakeholders, and external AI-forward development partners.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys delivering high-impact solutions, excels at team leadership, thrives in a fast-paced business environment, and is comfortable with AI and the Microsoft/Azure ecosystem.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Software Delivery Leadership:

  • Own delivery for a set of Technology Enablement Office (TEO) initiatives ensuring clear goals, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external vendors to scope work, review designs, validate deliverables, and integrate solutions into VMG’s environment.
  • Evaluate build / buy / partner options for technology investments to ensure they deliver cost-effective, scalable, long-term value.

Engineering Team, Practices, Governance & DevOps

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software and data engineers, focusing on coaching, feedback, and career growth.
  • Establish and reinforce engineering standards and ensure the team follows modern DevOps practices. Guide teams in using AI and automation to reduce manual effort, improve quality, and create repeatable, scalable processes.
  • Lead Agile ceremonies and promote transparency, continuous improvement, and predictable delivery.

Technology Enablement & Architecture Oversight

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership for solutions built primarily on Microsoft technologies (e.g., .NET, SQL Server, Azure, and modern JavaScript frameworks).
  • Partner with data, IT, and product leaders to define and execute a technology integration strategy so that enterprise systems, data and analytics, and automation initiatives operate as a coherent ecosystem.

Stakeholder & Business Partnership

  • Collaborate with business leaders, product management, and the CTO to translate business needs into clear requirements, roadmaps, and releases.
  • Communicate trade-offs, risks, and status updates in a way that resonates with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Connect engineering outcomes to business impact (efficiency, quality, scalability, revenue enablement, or risk reduction).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering or related technical roles with 3+ years managing engineers.
  • Experience leading teams who work with Microsoft-centric stacks with enough technical depth to challenge designs and support good decision-making.
  • Exposure to AI/ML or advanced analytics in real-world projects with a strong appetite to deepen expertise.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing or improving modern software delivery practices: Agile, CI/CD, test automation, and code review.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with business stakeholders, translating between business needs and technical execution.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience in professional services, healthcare, consulting, or other data-intensive service environments.
  • Prior work with external development vendors or consulting partners, especially AI or data-focused firms.
  • Experience working on or leading modernization/automation programs (moving from spreadsheets/manual workflows to robust applications and platforms).
