We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to lead and oversee all engineering activities at Cigarette Racing. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in marine engineering principles, with the ability to design, develop, and maintain high-performance vessels and systems.


This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with production schedules, safety standards, and international certifications. The Senior Engineer will supervise and mentor the engineering team, review all designs and templates prior to release, and drive continuous improvement and innovation across processes.


Strong technical expertise, leadership ability, and a commitment to quality and compliance are essential to succeed in this role.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and supervise a team of engineers, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with product management, design, and manufacturing teams to translate customer requirements into technical specifications and actionable project plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize engineering processes, workflows, and methodologies.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the engineering team.
  • Manage resource allocation, workload balancing, and project prioritization to meet business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in engineering design and development.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to achieve project milestones and deliverables.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex engineering issues, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Communicate project status, issues, and risks to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Conducting field sea trials, reports, and data collection on sea trials.
  • Communicate with vendors and manufacturers.

Requirements

Minimum of 5+ years in engineering management, preferably within the marine (performance or luxury boat), automotive, or aerospace industry.


Software Proficiency: 

  • CAD Software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • PLM/PDM systems for document and revision control

Technical Knowledge:

  • Fiberglass and composite materials (lamination, mold design, structural integrity)
  • Marine systems integration (electrical, propulsion, mechanical)
  • Understanding of ABYC, NMMA, and ISO boatbuilding standards
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, tooling, and CNC applications
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and integration with production planning

Leadership & Management:

  • Proven ability to lead and mentor diverse engineering teams
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Experience developing and enforcing engineering processes and workflows

Other Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
  • Vendor and supplier management experience

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, with occasional overtime or weekends


This role is based in a boat manufacturing or repair facility. The work environment may involve exposure to chemicals and fumes, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
