Drafter Technician
Description

The Drafter Technician will create and maintain designs, layouts, drawings, reports and documentation (3D and 2D) required for product lines and custom products, which include electric motors and other power transmission products.

The Drafter Technician adheres to both internal and internationals standards, as well as applicable specifications in order to achieve satisfactory product performance.  Product lines contain both standard and custom designs with high engineering content. The Drafter Technician will also support customer orders from the proposal phase thru the design, development, manufacturing, testing, and field service/aftermarket phases. The Drafter Technician will be responsible for collaboration and sharing of best design practices within the WEG Group.


Main Responsibilities

  • Must be an enthusiastic self-starter, able to organize and pursue broad objectives, and have the ability to manage multiple/changing priorities. 
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications using 2D and 3D modeling software.
  • Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
  • Modify and revise drawings, 3D models and bill of materials to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
  • Execution of bill of materials and engineering changes.
  • Provide technical support to other functional areas as needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency. 
  • Computer literate, with knowledge of most current operating systems and software.
  • Embrace a continuous improvement mindset, actively seeking opportunities to enhance processes and product quality.
Requirements
  •  2 years technical college, 2 years college pre-engineering, Drafting Certificate or equivalent (SolidWorks 3D modeling beneficial).
  • Necessary present knowledge of most current operating systems and software common to business applications (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project).
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing both internally and with customers.
  • Physical ability to travel freely within manufacturing and office facilities. This requires climbing stairs and moving over, around, and about shop machinery. Have the physical ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
