JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Pastor, the Director of Business Operations will have overall operational responsibility for all St. Mary programs and will lead the Management Team at the parish under the Pastor. This position will provide leadership to strategic planning processes and will implement new strategic initiatives ensuring the Pastor’s vision is executed effectively. The position is responsible for the overall health of the business aspects of St. Mary Parish and performs all HR and Risk Management day-to-day responsibilities. This is a key, critical role in the parish.

Able to work flexible schedule as necessary (nights, weekends)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (to include but not limited to):
Operational Leadership
• Actively engages all leadership to ensure the pastor’s vision is understood and implemented.
• Provides effective and inspiring leadership by being actively involved in all programs and services, developing both a broad and deep knowledge of all programs.
• Develops, leads, and guides both long term and day to day objectives of the Management Team.
• Plans and implements the organization and structure, development, and processes and procedures for all areas of the parish.
• Directs IT function including hardware, software, printers, and phone system.
• Identifies opportunities for the parish to leverage cross-program strengths to take advantage of new opportunities and/or to address organizational challenges.
• Supports parish ministry leaders and assists in streamlining ministries; provides input into consolidation or expansion as necessary.
Human Resources, Risk Management, Regulatory & Compliance
• Responsible for all facets of Human Resources from Organizational Structure and Position Responsibilities through Employee Growth Programs, Performance Appraisal Process, and Issue Resolution to Recruiting, Hiring, and Terminations.
• Coordinates and prepares parish response to liability and legal concerns, in cooperation with Archdiocesan offices as appropriate. Understands role of canon law in the Parish.
• Develops, updates, trains, and communicates parish policies and procedures manual.
• Oversees personnel, vendor, and rental contracts of parish and school in collaboration with appropriate departments.
• Facilitates Worker’s Compensation, FMLA and CO FAMLI claims.
• Ensures compliance with Archdiocesan Risk Management policies.
Campus Financial Development and Strategic Planning
• Plans and manages development initiatives and long-term financial plans
• Provides leadership and input for all strategic plan implementation processes with the Pastor and staff. Coach program directors as they implement the strategic plan and transition program operations.
• Collaborates with School Principal on Financial Decisions
• Ensures compliance with all Archdiocesan Financial Policies and Procedures
• Maintains relationship with Archdiocesan Offices and Deanery Business Managers
Communications
• Collaborates on the development and implementation of an overall communications plan for the parish. Oversees all parish-wide communications to ensure parishioners are knowledgeable of major activities and initiatives.
TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE PROFILE:
• BS/BA degree preferred with at least 5 years of experience and a track record in senior program management.
• Practicing Catholic with knowledge of, acceptance and adherence to Church teaching, doctrine and procedures (you will be asked to sign a Catholic Code of Conduct).
• Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach senior-level staff to manage and develop high-performance teams and develop and implement strategies.
• Deep experience in program budgeting and fiscal management.
• Track record of effectively leading a direct service organization with a complex array of programs with the ability to leverage strengths across program areas, excellent project management skills.
• Analytic and decisive decision making with the ability to prioritize and communicate to staff key objectives and tactics necessary to achieve organizational goals.
• Experience managing human resource function including personnel, compensation, and recruiting
• Fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent public speaking skills.
• Ability to work with a wide variety of people to support, empower, and hold accountable while ensuring
• Excellent computer skills, preferably experienced in all Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, & Power Point)
• Solid knowledge and understanding of fundamental database concepts (i.e. input, storage, retrieval, reporting, etc.) as demonstrated by prior work or academic experience
