Certified Nursing Assistant- Lilypad
Description

 

Work is performed with children with special needs/disabilities in PPEC classrooms in The Lily Pad building, on the grounds, and in the community. Desktop and floor work are required. Also, some travel to and from program and referring agencies, and to individuals' residences and marketing opportunities may be involved.

4.0 REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

4.1 The Certified Nursing Assistant of PPEC will report directly to the Registered Nurse and Director of Nursing. 

4.2 The following positions report directly to the Certified Nursing Assistant: 

4.2.1 None 

5.0 AUTHORITY

5.1 To support the delivery of a best nursing practice day health care program.

5.2 To provide nursing assistant care and related services. 

5.4 To keep track of equipment, materials, operating supplies and report quantities to director of nursing.

6.0 RESPONSIBILITIES

6.1 Collaborate with other staff to foster age-appropriate self-care and fine/gross motor, language/literacy, and social/emotional development

6.2 Provide nursing assistance and daily care services. 

6.3   Supports efforts to educate, instruct, and train parents/guardians/other caregivers regarding their child’s developmental needs and daily care. 

6.4 Review individual and specific program plans and action steps that facilitate developmental progress. 

6.5 Collaborate with other staff/consultants to create appropriate room arrangements, culturally responsive learning centers, and consistent routines/schedules to safely engage children and maximize learning. 

6.6 Adapts learning activities and materials to support diverse abilities and learning styles. 

6.7 Guides appropriate behavior and interaction skills through modeling and redirection. Implements behavior management programs as directed. 

6.8 Follow written policies, regulations, and laws regarding the reporting of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of children.

6.9 Maintain clean, orderly environment, including compliance with all safety and health regulations. 

6.10 Monitor vital signs and weight of the individuals served report anything abnormal to Registered Nurse and/or Director of Nursing.

6.11 Track and maintain supplies.

6.12 Participate in monthly staff development programs to maintain quality and up to date childcare. 

6.13 Monitor safety of children at The Lily Pad. 

6.14 Documents each child’s progress appropriately by utilizing programs in place (i.e. Ages and Stages) 

6.15 Sets up and helps children use assistive/adaptive and computer technology to perform developmental tasks. 

6.16 Provide emergency care.

6.17 Feeds, toilets, dresses, and addresses all other personal care needs of children. 

6.19 Direct work of volunteers.  

6.20 Control operational costs and expenses of day-to-day classroom operations by utilizing supplies effectively and non-wasteful.

6.21 Report all incidences that could jeopardize current or future health or safety of 

children in The Lily Pad.  

6.22 Provide prompt clinical attention to children that exhibit a change in health

 condition or signs of illness or injury and notify Registered Nurse and/or Director of Nursing of any changes or concerns. 

6.23 Monitor solid/fluid intake and output on all children assigned throughout the day. 

6.24 Monitor blood glucose as ordered in the individual protocol of care and as needed. 

6.26 Provide information to the PPEC nursing director for periodic review and updates 

to each child’s protocol of care. 

6.27 Perform other duties as assigned. 

7.0 PRINCIPAL DUTIES

7.1 Maintain a safe and healthy environment in compliance with licensing standards. 

7.2 Engage in ongoing professional activities and show evidence of professional growth resulting from the implementation of professional growth plan. 

7.3 Adhere to all dress code standards outlined in the Dress Code Policy. 

7.4 Work with management to ensure company policy is followed.

7.5 Attend meetings concerning individuals with the referring agencies.

7.8 Complete any other duties assigned by the Registered Nurse and/or Director of Nursing.



Requirements


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND KEY COMPETENICES:


High School Diploma or GED equivalent

CNA license required

Previous experience required

Ability to multi-task and manage a variety of projects and goals

Highly organized and detail oriented

Must be a citizen of the United States and possess a valid driver’s license

Able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
