Field Service Technician

InstroTek is looking for a Field Service Technician to install, service, and support industry-leading testing equipment used in construction materials and quality assurance.
This is a highly visible, customer-facing role for someone who enjoys working independently, solving technical challenges, and making a real impact in the field. Expect ~80% travel, exciting job sites, and continuous learning in a fast-growing company.
What You’ll Do
- Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair InstroTek testing instruments
- Perform on-site and remote service visits at customer facilities
- Train customers on proper equipment operation and maintenance
- Serve as the primary technical contact for assigned customers
- Document service activities, maintenance logs, and communications
- Maintain tools, test equipment, and spare parts inventory
- Follow all safety and environmental regulations in the field
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve complex issues
- Share field feedback to support product improvements
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed
What You Bring
Skills & Abilities
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Experience with laboratory or field testing equipment (construction materials testing preferred)
- Proficiency with diagnostic and calibration tools
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and CRM/service software
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regionally
Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical training in electronics, electrical, or mechanical engineering (or related field)
- Minimum 2 years of field service or technical support experience
- Ability to read schematics, technical manuals, and safety documentation
Physical & Work Requirements
- Frequent travel (approx. 80%), including overnight stays
- Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs regularly
- Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and occasional climbing
- Comfortable working in materials labs with asphalt, concrete, and soil
- Exposure to outdoor conditions, dust, noise, and moving mechanical parts
- Good vision, including close, color, and depth perception
- Laboratory facilities contain minor, fully shielded radiation sources used strictly for materials testing
- All areas are monitored and controlled under strict safety protocols
- Exposure risk is minimal and well below occupational safety thresholds
