Nevada Public Radio is looking for a dynamic, hard-working intern to work in the Nevada Public Radio newsroom. This internship gives students and/or other early-career journalists the opportunity to participate in the creation of a news organization’s flagship productions; namely, Desert Companion magazine and KNPR’s State of Nevada radio program. It offers general multimedia journalism experience, allowing the intern to develop their skills in reporting, writing, producing, editing and other tasks involved in producing and publishing NPR-affiliated news and editorial content.
Why intern with us? KNPR’s State of Nevada is Nevada Public Radio’s flagship news and public affairs program, serving more than 100,000 listeners during its broadcast. Airing on the urban and rural network of Nevada Public Radio, we cover most of the state, and parts of southern California, Arizona and Utah.
Desert Companion is the Las Vegas Valley’s premier city magazine, celebrating the pursuits, passions and aspirations of Southern Nevadans. With award-winning journalism and design, Desert Companion has been informing, entertaining and inspiring readers for 18 years. In 2020, we launched a weekly newsletter, which includes profiles, reviews, Q&As, essays, humor and more, both from the print edition and online-only bonuses.
Nevada Public Radio’s newsroom produces State of Nevada and Desert Companion, as well as news spots and features. As our editorial intern, you’d be part of the team whose interviews, commentary, and analysis spark dialogue, engage people, and define the spirit of Southern Nevada.
