Help turn waste gas into clean, reliable power.
If you're the kind of engineer who loves splitting your time between CAD models, a wrench in your hand, and boots in the field, this is your playground. Qnergy’s Bio-Methane team is building real-world solutions that cut methane emissions and power remote operations and we need a mechanical engineer who can move fast, solve messy problems, and build things that don’t quit.
What You’ll Own
You’ll design, test, and deploy mechanical systems that integrate with landfill and biogas applications. One day you’re modeling a piping assembly in SolidWorks. The next, you’re pressure-testing a prototype or troubleshooting a gas handling setup onsite with the Field Service team. If you get bored easily, great... you won’t here.
Your Work Will Include
- Designing components and assemblies for landfill/biogas integration: piping, mounting structures, enclosures, gas handling, all of it.
- Translating field problems and customer feedback into smarter, tougher designs.
- Running hands-on prototype testing (pressure, flow, environmental).
- Creating 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings (SolidWorks preferred).
- Building and iterating in the shop tools in hand, sleeves rolled up.
- Collaborating with Electrical, Controls, Manufacturing, and Field Service to ensure reliability, safety, and top-tier performance.
- Supporting installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting in the field.
- Documenting design changes, test results, and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
- Participating in DFMEAs, validations, and cost/manufacturability improvements.
- Presenting to senior leadership, execs, and government stakeholders with confidence and tact.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- 3–7 years in mechanical design, product development, or applied engineering.
- Experience with landfill gas, biogas, or renewable energy? Big plus.
- Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, pressure systems, and gas handling.
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude, you think by building.
- SolidWorks proficiency.
- Comfortable with fabrication methods (machining, welding, assembly).
- Industrial controls experience (PLC/ladder logic) preferred.
- Ability to write in at least one language: Python, C, C#, or C++
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Willing to travel up to 15% and work in variable field conditions.
Work Environment
- Mix of office, shop, and field work.
- Outdoor conditions at remote sites (landfills, biogas facilities).
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and move through dynamic environments.
- Fast-changing priorities, flexibility is key.
