Julie Billiart Schools is a network of schools serving children in grades K-8 with special learning challenges. Our campuses in Lyndhurst, Akron, Westlake, and Brecksville offer unique learning environments for students with autism, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, and social learning challenges. We are Catholic, non-public schools that respect diverse faith traditions.


Salary

$50,000-55,000 annually 


Job Purpose

The Accounting Specialist supports the daily operations of the Business Office through timely, accurate, and detail-oriented processing of financial transactions. This position is responsible for payroll processing, vendor disbursements, and other clerical accounting functions that support the smooth and compliant financial management of Julie Billiart Schools.

Duties and Responsibilities

Payroll

  • Process bi-weekly payroll and special payrolls as needed.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including but not limited to pay rates,  payroll tax rates, 401K withholdings, payroll deductions, paid time off requests and balances.
  • Issue W-2s, 1095Cs and other similar tax forms.
  • Manage employee benefits platform (Employee Navigator).
  • Provide  payroll-related support and respond to employee questions.

Accounts Payable and Disbursements

  • Review and code invoices accurately.
  • Obtain approvals and enter payables in accounting software (Sage Intacct).
  • Process vendor payments and reimbursements.
  • Maintain W-9s.
  • Annual 1099 preparation.

Purchasing and Office Transactions

  • Manage copier leases, postage machine and other similar service agreements.
  • Manage Staples, Amazon and other similar purchasing accounts. 
  • Monitor and reconcile purchasing card transactions and enter into Sage Intacct.

Accounting Support

  • Assist with providing support for audit preparation and other reporting requests.
  • Assist with receipts and deposits as required.
  • Account reconciliations as assigned.

Other Duties

  • Maintain organized digital and physical records for all transactions.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal staff, vendors and all other constituents.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

  

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

Education / Certifications

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred.

Experience

  • 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience in a school, nonprofit, or business office setting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct or similar accounting system preferred.

Working Conditions

This position is primarily sedentary and performed in an office environment, requiring frequent use of a computer and other standard office equipment.

Supervision Received

Reports to and is evaluated by the Controller.
