Air Quality Technician

SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Air Quality Technician to support air monitoring projects and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. This role involves preparing, deploying, and sampling air monitoring systems, operating and maintaining ambient air testing equipment, and documenting all field activities accurately. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-conscious, and committed to delivering excellent service to clients. Work is primarily field-based and requires travel to client sites.  


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Three years’ experience in an industrial setting OR a two-year technical degree, preferred.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license and maintain an insurable driving record.
  • TWIC Card.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Respond to company and client calls, including during extended hours, and work overtime when necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the preparation, deployment, and sampling of air monitoring activities.
  • Independently assemble, operate, and troubleshoot ambient air testing equipment.
  • Ensure all project preparation is complete before fieldwork, including equipment cleaning, repair, and calibration.
  • Conduct facility inspections, audits, and sampling in compliance with environmental standards.
  • Maintain and calibrate air monitoring equipment, including stationary Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and mobile ambient air monitoring stations.
  • Complete Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and participate in toolbox meetings.
  • Follow all safety procedures and report potential hazards or unsafe practices to supervisors.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to clients in the field.
  • Assist with laboratory, shop, and equipment maintenance.
  • Generate accurate and complete documentation of all field activities.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to travel frequently and on short notice, with some overnight travel.
  • Ability to walk long distances.
  • Ability to lift 50 or more pounds and work at elevated heights. 
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain, sometimes for extended periods of time.
