Description

Objective

The Handyman (Contractor) is a skilled short-term maintenance professional engaged to support essential repairs, small projects, and preventative maintenance across Salt Lake Brewing Company locations. This temporary role ensures operational continuity while long-term facilities strategies are being evaluated. The contractor will independently travel between sites, including Park City, to complete assigned work orders and assist the Facilities Maintenance Manager with priority maintenance needs.


Contract Scope and Duration

This is a temporary contractor position expected to last several months. Contract length may be adjusted based on workload and business needs.


Essential Responsibilities

Maintenance and Repair Operations

  • Perform basic preventative maintenance, including changing water and air filters and cleaning equipment.
  • Apply caulking to surfaces as needed to meet health and safety guidelines.
  • Repair broken or leaking plumbing to prevent water damage and restore full functionality of fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical issues, including replacing outlets and fixtures.
  • Complete interior and exterior touch-up painting and minor wall repairs.
  • Use basic hand tools to carry out assigned tasks effectively.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail to ensure work is completed to a high standard and potential hazards are identified and resolved.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with employees and building residents.
  • Occasionally assist the Facilities Maintenance Manager with larger or more complex projects, including renovations, repairs, and equipment exchanges.

Facility Care and Safety

  • Support upkeep of interior and exterior spaces to ensure all areas remain functional, safe, and visually consistent with company standards.
  • Identify maintenance concerns early and report them promptly to the Facilities Maintenance Manager.
  • Follow all on-site safety policies, OSHA guidelines, and proper tool-use procedures.
  • Maintain organized workspaces and ensure safe storage of tools and equipment.

Operational Support

  • Travel to multiple restaurant locations to complete assigned work orders.
  • Coordinate with General Managers and FOH and BOH leadership to minimize disruption to operations during repairs.
  • Communicate clearly regarding timelines, materials needed, and project completion status.
  • Assist with urgent or high-priority maintenance needs as requested by the Facilities Maintenance Manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency with basic hand tools and general understanding of electrical, plumbing, and building repair techniques.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks across multiple locations.
  • Professional communication and reliability.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and high-quality workmanship.
  • Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and short-notice repair needs.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Must be capable of performing manual labor in active environments, including:

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. regularly
  • Bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working in confined or elevated spaces
  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Using required tools and equipment safely

Job Type: Non-Exempt Contractor
Pay Rate: $20 to $21 per hour
Schedule: Occasional evenings and nights; work across multiple locations including Park City
Supervisor: Facilities Maintenance Manager

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED required
Experience: 1 to 3 years of general maintenance or building repair preferred
Driving Requirements: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Tools and Equipment: Basic hand tools, ladders, and light repair equipment
