Job Title: Human Resource Business Partner

Job Summary

Under limited supervision, the Human Resource Business Partner uses extensive knowledge and skills obtained through experience and training to assist in developing and implementing HR practices, procedures, and solutions for the clients within the HR Team. The HR Business Partner works with the HR team on external client consulting and strategy, guiding the team on transformational HR strategy and development of solutions for assigned clients. You will work with HR leadership internally on HR products and HR team development, develop and enhance the HR Portfolio products, lead the education and training of the HR team for any new laws and regulations, upskilling of their broader HR knowledge, and creating service standards. Work in close partnership with HR team and other departments to ensure world class customer service and consulting.



Job Duties

External Client Consulting and Strategy:

  • Partner with the HR Team to develop client HR Roadmaps and support the execution of strategic human resource plans and practices; this could include educating and mentoring the HR Team or being responsible for identifying strategic initiatives.
  • Evaluate when layered HR partnership is needed to manage projects, strategic initiatives, or escalations.
  • Assist leadership in client escalations and work cross-departmentally to determine root cause and effective risk mitigation. 
  • Manage high-level interactions with clients in other PuzzleHR support areas of payroll, benefits, talent acquisition, onboarding, and HCM implementation/optimization.
  • Ensure all employee matters are handled with confidentiality, consistency, and fairness without discrimination.
  • Engage with C-suite level partners and client decision-makers to ensure we meet the clients’ needs.
  • Lead the HR Team through planning and development of workforce planning programs and SOPs, including client mergers and acquisitions, large-scale growth, and reduction in force efforts.
  • Responsible for updating, administering, interpreting, and delivering the PuzzleHR Index Survey to all participating clients. Also responsible for training new and growing team members in the Survey process. 
  • Assist the HR Team with analyzing client data related to employee engagement and developing programs to enhance the employee experience.
  • Work with the HR Team and client leadership to develop policies and practices that support the client’s mission, vision, culture, and values. 


Internal HR Product & Team Development:

  • Assist leadership with developing the strategic department goals, objectives, processes, and systems
  • for our Portfolios.
  • Work with leadership to build out the structure of how we provide HR compliance and services to 
  • our client base, including build out of The Puzzle Way initiatives. 
  • Refine, build, and educate the knowledge of progressive HR practices, compliance elements and 
  • key trends.
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement of HR services and processes and assist the team with the 
  • development and implementation. This includes HR Solved, Foundations and Comply. 
  • Create reports utilizing HR metrics and conduct analytics on human capital data for trend 
  • identification (including PuzzleHR survey deployment, RACI charts, due diligence, report cards, road 
  • maps, and quarterly business reviews).
  • Co-Lead the PuzzleHR Portfolio team meetings and attend other meetings and seminars in 
  • partnership with leadership.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Required Skills

  • Knowledge of the Company’s working structure, policies, mission, and strategies.
  • Principles, practices, and procedures of human resources administration associated with employment; compensation and classification; and employee development.
  • Broad knowledge of all functions that reside under the HR umbrella.
  • Legal requirements and federal and state regulations related to employment.
  • Skilled in facilitating and utilizing effective presentation methods to deliver clear, engaging, and impactful messages.
  • Statistical methods, concepts, and other analytical tools used in human resource processes.
  • Interviewing and candidate evaluation processes.
  • Business acumen to deliver solutions while taking into consideration financial, legal, and social implications.
  • Analysis of a myriad of HR data and ability to draw conclusions based on the data.
  • Interpret and apply state and federal statutes and applicable rules and regulations to moderately complex human resource issues and problems.
  • Provide appropriate recommendations for the resolution of simple/moderately complex employment and employee relations issues.
  • Organize, manage, and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Use appropriate interpersonal styles and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all organizational levels.
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Keep all appropriate parties up to date on decisions, changes, and other relevant information.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Proficient in client relationship management tools, virtual meeting software, and the Microsoft Office Suite (internet connection capable of supporting video meetings).


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of eight (8) years of human resources experience or a minimum of ten (10) years of human resources experience required.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP Certification preferred.


Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • Must be able to move up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to participate in video conferences/meetings.
Salary Description
$84,329- $111,370
