Description
The Seasonal Special Diet Assistant works with the Food Services Manager to ensure safe and accurate preparation of meals for campers with food allergies and other dietary restrictions. This seasonal position plays a key role in reviewing menus, adapting recipes, and preparing dietary accommodations for individual campers during the summer camp season.
Responsibilities:
- Attend Seasonal Staff Training (May 18-29, 2026)
- Review camper dietary needs and collaborate with the medical team before and during camp
- Adapt recipes and prepare special diet meals according to medical and camp guidelines
- Communicate ingredient information and dietary modifications to the Food Services Manager
- Work with the Food Services team to ensure all meals are served safely and accurately
- Assist with kitchen operations as needed, including cleaning and food preparation
- Track and report dietary adjustments and menu changes during sessions
Requirements
Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- Be enrolled in or have recently completed a degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field
- Knowledge of food allergies, cross-contamination prevention, and safe food handling practices
- Ability to communicate effectively with campers, families, and medical staff
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Availability to work full-time during the summer camp season
Salary Description
$13-$16 per hour
