Purchasing Specialist

Freeman Boatworks builds some of the most respected offshore fishing boats in the world. We are looking for a Purchasing Specialist who wants to play a key role in keeping our production running smoothly and our builds moving forward.

What You’ll Do

  • Support and manage the procurement of materials, supplies, and services that keep our builds on schedule
  • Lead strategic purchasing initiatives focused on cost savings, supplier partnerships, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure all purchasing activities meet company standards and compliance requirements
  • Interpret purchasing specifications and work closely with internal teams to understand needs
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors to ensure quality, reliability, and great service
  • Issue, track, and adjust purchase orders to match production requirements
  • Monitor inventory levels and forecast needs to maintain healthy safety stock
  • Analyze purchasing data and prepare reports that help drive smart decisions
  • Track supplier performance and help strengthen our vendor evaluation program
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes—especially around kitting, sequencing, and material flow
  • Jump in where needed to support the overall supply chain success of the company

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR equivalent experience
  • 3–5 years of purchasing, planning, or supply chain experience
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and negotiate contracts
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and adapt quickly
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
  • A collaborative, flexible, and proactive approach to work

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Periods of standing, walking, or sitting
  • Occasional bending, climbing, kneeling, or lifting up to 25 lbs
  • Work near machinery and occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles
