Description

  

We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator with expert-level experience to support NASA mission systems under the NCAPS contract in a remote capacity. This position delivers advanced engineering, Tier 3/4 support, and operational leadership across on-premises, virtual, and cloud environments. You will ensure secure, stable, and optimized operations for mission-critical systems while providing remote technical support to Kennedy Space Center (KSC) customers and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in enterprise systems administration, endpoint management, security compliance, and hands-on troubleshooting in a federal or aerospace environment.


  

Key Responsibilities:


Systems Administration & Engineering

  • Install, configure, and maintain servers and workstations across physical, virtual, cloud, and web environments.
  • Perform system upgrades, patch cycles, and layered software configurations.
  • Monitor and fine-tune systems for optimal performance and reliability.
  • Ensure workstation and server integrity through secure hardware and software administration.
  • Maintain and enhance desktop OS images, builds, task sequences, and baseline configurations.
  • Conduct hardware/software audits ensuring standards and security compliance.
  • Develop and promote Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for enterprise systems.
  • Maintain a full configuration management library and documentation for all systems.

Backup & Recovery

  • Implement scheduled system backups, restores, and database archival operations.
  • Manage data/media storage using internal and off-site retrieval services.

Security & Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with NIST, DISA STIGs, IAVM, and federal cybersecurity requirements.
  • Conduct endpoint security assessments, vulnerability analyses, and remediation.
  • Support internal/external audits and bi-annual system revalidations.


  

CARE Center Support Responsibilities 

Provide Tier 2–3 remote support for internal and external users accessing Kennedy Applications.

  • Serve as the remote support lead for PCAN Maximo, including Category Matrix maintenance.
  • Manage service tickets submitted via Email, Phone, or Microsoft Teams.
  • Provide remote troubleshooting and support for TechDoc/DocuBrain systems, workflows, and databases.
  • Administer user accounts for SAP, BW, PPS, ensuring Segregation of Duties (SoD) compliance.
  • Support NAMS provisioning and access lifecycle management for KSC and SSC.
  • Maintain the CARE Center SharePoint Site and shared email/distribution lists.
  • Assist in preparing and publishing KSC Daily News Articles for NCAPS.
  • Perform additional remote administrative and technical support tasks as required.

Requirements

  

Minimum Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship (required for Federal programs)
  • Active Public Trust, Secret, or Top-Secret Clearance
  • 12+ years of directly related systems administration or enterprise IT experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical field
  • Expert-level experience with:
    • Windows server/workstation administration
    • Virtualization and cloud technologies
    • Enterprise application and user support
    • Security hardening and compliance frameworks
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to support NASA systems and workflows in a fully remote capacity




Preferred Qualifications

  • NASA, DoD, DHS, or other federal agency support experience
  • Familiarity with Maximo, SAP/BW/PPS, NAMS, IdMAX, and technical document management platforms
  • Experience with DISA STIGs, NIST standards, RMF processes
  • Scripting and automation experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
  • Industry certifications (ITIL, Microsoft, VMware, CompTIA)
Salary Description
60,000 - 75,000 Salary Depending on Experience
