This position fulfills that mission by providing exceptional service to internal and external members, identifying their needs, and recommending Credit Union products and services that can improve their financial well-being.
The Commercial Loan Officer I assists with the analysis, processing, and servicing of commercial loan requests. This includes evaluating the financial condition of individuals and businesses, conducting less complex loan renewals and new loan analyses, and preparing recommendations for review and approval by senior lending staff or the Loan Review Committee.
Essential Functions:
Loan Analysis & Processing
- Manage assigned commercial loan applications and prospective member relationships involving less complex loan screening and analysis.
- Conduct comprehensive business and organizational financial analyses to assess capacity, cash flow, collateral, and repayment ability.
- Analyze market trends, industry conditions, and economic data to evaluate lending risks and opportunities.
- Prepare and present credit recommendations and supporting documentation for review by the Commercial Loan Officer II, AVP of Commercial Lending, or the Loan Review Committee.
- Assist with the monitoring and maintenance of existing loan relationships, including annual reviews and portfolio follow-ups.
Member Relationship Development
- Support the development and maintenance of commercial member relationships in coordination with senior loan officers.
- Identify potential commercial lending opportunities and promote Credit Union products and services that meet member needs.
- Gain a strong understanding of each business member’s operations, goals, and financial structure to provide tailored lending solutions.
- Help establish and maintain effective communication channels with members to ensure high levels of satisfaction and service continuity.
Collaboration & Department Support
- Work collaboratively with other lending, credit, and operations staff to ensure timely and accurate completion of loan transactions.
- Assist in developing and enhancing internal processes to improve departmental efficiency and service quality.
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture within the commercial lending department.
- Stay informed on Credit Union policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Perform other duties as needed to advance the mission, vision, and values of Highmark Credit Union.

Minimum Qualifications:
- · Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or similar field
- · 2 years of lending experience in Business lending and/or Commercial Real Estate Lending and Relationship Management
- · Knowledge of consumer, commercial and real estate lending practices and procedures including credit analysis
- · Knowledge of Credit Union services and products including the legal and regulatory requirements
- · Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- · Must pass required background check
